Hey, thanks for downloading this. If you don't know anything about
ray-tracing with PovRay, you might get a few good pointers here; however,
if you're an experienced raytracer, you'll most likely get a good laugh. :)
In any case, enjoy. It's not a very complex scene; just a couple of
spheres, cylinders, and superellipsoids thrown together in CSG. My favorite
things are the bubbles, using PovRay's new iridescence feature (one of the
things that inspired this scene).
Just for the sake of conversation, I'll say that this is my first
major scene with a raytracer -- "major" meaning done entirely by myself, and
taking more than fifteen minutes to render. :)
Why did I render this in 720x540 rather than 640x480 or 800x600?
Primarily, I thought there wasn't enough things in the scene to make a
800x600 picture look interesting. 680x480 is too small. Plus, it looks
different -- and people with a 800x600 screen will be able to see the whole
image on their web browsers without having to scroll, and 640x480 users
won't have to scroll far. In addition, it allows me to have a pretty high-
quality JPG while staying in under the 250k limit. I recommend 720x540
for these reasons; but feel free to render the image in any size you
like. :)
