IMAGE DESCRIPTION:

First I planed to make a different image, much more complex and entirely with
POV-Ray.
Unfortunately, I had little free time at end of the year, so the nice and
complex image remained
only about 90ompleted. When I realized that, I rushed to make the present
model (it utilizes
some of the ideas, but is not as good as the unfinished one).

DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED:

Raytraced with POV-Ray v3.0 for Windows 3.xx.

All textures are created with POV-Ray (included in amp.zip).

The wasp model is done in POV-Ray almost completely with blobs:
Two projections of a wasp were scanned from the book "Pohjois-Euroopan
Hy_nteiset" (The
Insects of Northern Europe) by Michael Chinery, p.16, side view, table 42, top
view.
The wings and the legs were made in POV-Ray, on the basis of the curves,
obtained by manual
tracing (hand-drawing) of the scanned images (in Corel Draw 4).
The curves were exported from Corel as DXF. DXFs were then taken to a
word-processor,
only the coordinates of the vertices were left (all the rest removed). The
coordinates were used
to create blobs with cylindrical elements (included in amp.zip).

The wasp body patterns were hand-drawn in Corel Draw 4.0 and exported as TARGA
(included
in amp.zip). They are quite (perhaps, far too) big in size.

The body and the head of the wasp were modelled entirely in POV-Ray.
The while loops inside the blob objects with spherical elements were used to
create the body and
the antennas (included in amp.zip).

The geometry of kitchen and the chair (seen only as reflection) were imported
from 3D-Studio
(not included in amp.zip). I actually made them at the same time, so the are
not
"my old models".
They are the models of objects existing in the real world.

P.S. To my mind it would be nice not to mention "COUNTRY:" in the text file:
       - What does a citizenship have in common with raytracing?
       - An artist is, first of all, an individual (he/she represents
him/herself, not a country), so a
valid e-mail address should be enough.
       - The item "COUNTRY:" may lead to a bias when voting. People are people,
you know.
Someone may want to vote for a country instead of an image.
