twiride.zip expands to six files:

readme.txt	This file
twiride.log	Logfile of the rendering
twiride.pov	The pov scene file, needs twiride.inc. Generated by the modeler software (moray).
twiride.inc	Contains the textures for twiride.pov. Generated by the modeler software (moray).
twiride.mdl	Rendered scene in moray format.
dolphin.mdl	The stretched dolphin in moray format, .

Creation of the scene file:
This was done entirely on Moray v2.5 in about two weeks' evenings. Almost all objects are bezier patches, so the pov scene files look quite cryptic and are not very useful, if you want to change something. Textures were created with moray's built-in texture editor. To my surprise, the most difficult thing was to make the surf good looking, I am not satisfied at all with the present version. I you created some crafty scenes with realistic agitated water, I would appreciate if you allow me to learn from it by sending your scene and texture files as an attachment to ries@biochem.mpg.de.
For the interrested raytracing enthusiasts the two accompanying mdl-files are scene files in moray format.

Rendering:
I had problems with the correct assumed gamma to obtain the desired shadowy appearance of the human & animal figures. The present value was best for my display of several test renderings. See twiride.log for rendering options and times. The tracing was done with POV-Ray v3.0 on a LINUX/Cyrix P166+ machine.

Conversion to targa->jpeg:
was done with cjpeg v6, it is one of the Independent JPEG Group's tools.
Command line switches used were -quality 95 -targa -debug -outfile twiride.jpg
