IMAGE DESCRIPTION:

Deep within its watery demesne, the Fountain of Youth stands
hidden and forgotten beyond the reach of mortal influence.

DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED:

Just about all of the elements of this image were taken from previous
works of mine, and given the two weeks I had to generate it, I think that
I consider their combination to be successful.

The fountain is a work of CSG, and the actual water represents
two techniques that I have been experimenting with. The lower pool was
modelled as a 200x200 mesh of triangles, which was trimmed using CSG
to be round in shape. The spouts of water are blobs, arranged using a
loop to position them. The stone in the top pool is a sphere with a
number of planes cut from it, forming a sharp edge along the top which
is difficult to discern.

The water around the platform is a wave normal pattern, and the
wall in the background is a layered texture.

I realize that this image is simple, and that there are areas of
space that could have been better developed. As it was, I had more in
mind, but ran out of time. An interpretation of this theme did not strike
me until most of the time was gone. Ultimately, this is somewhere in
between a simple fountain and images of the Earthblood from Donaldson.
