IMAGE DESCRIPTION:

Do not adjust your screen! :) There it is... A nice calm night off the shore of
any island you want to think of. A ship just adrift in the middle of the ocean.
The crew is sleeping in the dark of the night. Gathering their energy with
every snore they take. Getting ready to go and plunder when the sun comes up.

DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED:

I thought that this would be a good oppertunity to play with the new natural
shaders that lightwave comes with. So I started with the water. :) It's a
combination of the Natural_Shader and some bump maps. I hope to make this into
an animated short later on when I get the time. After tweaking the surface to
the last mintute I was happy with it. Then I modelled the ship. It started out
as a box. It is actually a VERY BASIC model. I knew it was going to be at night
so I can get away with a lot. Then I modelled the mountain range. It's a highly
divided plane with a displacement map. I added a little Steamer action for the
"blood" fog around the island. The moon was a simple effect that I did in
Lightwave. And the clouds were done with a little assitence from the SkyTracer
plugin. Everything that was used to make this image COMES WITH LIGHTWAVE. I did
not spend $1000 for the plugins to help me with it. :)
