IMAGE DESCRIPTION:

After I finished my first picture for IRTC, I started doing this one, since my
other picture is less conected to water theme. The best way to create picture
that's conected to this theme is to make something on the sea, so that water
fills up most space in scene. Since sea is simple plane with good texture on
it, anyone can make that kind of picture.
I decided to created one great human achievements for travel above the water,
the bridge. Using some printed pictures of bridges from internet I sucesely
created complex structure of bridge. The ice and airplane was created to fill
up scene and make it more interesting for you.

DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED:

As with previous picture I used Moray modeller for modeling all elements of the
scene. Bridge was created in few separated files and in the end imported all
elements in one unique scene and export that in POV file. Most textures are
completely rewriten in POVRay. The sky sphere is used to create sky. I also
used plane to create clouds. For clouds I didn't use the bozo pattern as many
people do, but crackle pattern with turbulence. That gave the satisfying result
for cloud texture. Ice bergs are made with height fields. Bitmaps for big ones
were created in Vue d'Esprit, and retouched in Photoshop. I corected histogram
and curves to get edge of the bitmap slightly sharper than it was. For litle
ice bergs, I wrote texture with crackle pattern, color map that goes from black
to white colos, and turbulence to reshape the edges of crackle pattern. In
texture finish statement the ambient was set to 1 and diffuse to 0. Texture was
applied to plane with camera that stands above it and look in middle of it.
Resolution 1280x1024 is used to render this texture, lately retouched in
Photoshop and used in Moray for height fields.
Water on plane has no color. It color only depends on sorrounding objects,
mostly sky. Texture of water is slightly transparent. If you look at ice bergs,
you will see that shape of rock goes under the water plane. Water was created
out of two textures. One use little bumps for normal and other bigger bumps.
That gave very good water texture.
For modeling the airplane, I also used Moray modeller. Image maps for airplane
are created in Corel DRAW 7.0 and applyed on airplane in Moray. Texture for
propeller are made with onion pattern scaled and with pigment map. In pigment
map I used radial with color map. Using that, the spiral map slightly fade as
she reach the end of propeller.
Area light is used for biger realism of picture.
Scene contains about 30900 primitive objects and tooks about 68 MB RAM to
render... :)
