IMAGE DESCRIPTION:
This image shows my interpretation of Pharaoh Khafras Valley
temple. He builded the second
largest pyramid in Egypt. His brother Khufu builded the great pyramid on
the Giza plattau. A pyramid complex
existed from several different buildings. One of them was the Valley
temple. The purpose of this temple was it to
mumify the dad Pharoh. Later on, this temple was used by the priest to
offer goods for the dad Pharoh.
The statue in the middle of the temple is a Khafra on his Lion Throne.
Today's research indicates that Khafra was also the builder of the
Sphinx which resembles him very closly.
The buildings had no colorfull pictures painted on the walls during this
period of great Pharoh's. That is the reason
why this picture has a lack of any wall paintings. The inscription on
the collums is the royal cartouche of Khafra.
The pyramid on the left side is Khafras pyramid. The pyramid to the
right is Khufus. Both pyramids are finished
with white limestone layers. That is the reason why they are also white
in my picture.

DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED:
All objects in this scene are made in
Lightwave's modeller, either in normal mode or in
Metanurbs mode. Objects like the walls, ceiling, collums and floor are
also modified with displacement maps. I paid close attention
to the face of Khafra, since I used this face on the Sphinx. (I believe
I got pretty close to the real thing). All textures
are made in PSP5 and then modified in diffusion and bump map for there
specific needs. I created in Lightwave different
scene files for each object or object group and combined them later in
one scene together. I used Bryce 4 for the sky.
The rendered sky picture was then used as background picture in
Lightwave. The main scene has 10 different lightsources ,
two of them with a shadow map applied to it. I needed almost 4 weeks to
complete this project.
