IMAGE DESCRIPTION:

Normandy bridge was put into service the 22nd of January 1995.
It was one of the largest construction projects in France to date, at times
employing up to one thousand people.
Its construction lasted 6 years. Parallel to Tancarville bridge, Normandy bridge
was built as closely as possible to the mouth of the Seine, in order to free up
traffic toward western France.
Motorists can make it from one side to the other in less than 10 minutes.
What is most important however, is that this achievement ensures continuity
between northern and southwestern Europe.
Normandy bridge provides better access to the port of Havre and thus improves
its international competitiveness.

Normandy bridge has proved to be a genuine technological feat, and beats the
worldwide record in its category.
More stable in high winds (it regularly braves gusts of 180 km/hr. and up), and
less expensive than a suspended bridge, this architectural marvel was designed
to represent two enormous scales whose axes are its pylons.

Total length : 2 141 m
Central span : 856 m
Roadway height : 59 m
Pylon height : 215 m
Net weight: 20 000 tons
