IMAGE DESCRIPTION:
What could be more relaxing than a day at the beach. Spend
the day with the kids, or even by yourself, building a sandcastle. Bring along
a boat and play pirates of the carribean. At the end of the day sit and watch
a spectacular sunset. Don't forget to take your tools and boat on the way
home, the tide will take care of the rest.

This is my second entry into this competition. I do this as a creative outlet
to help me deal with the stress of my day job.

DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED:
I started the design of this image
with the sand dunes. I used the terrain generator to develop three height maps
and arranged them to form the beach and then combined them as a group. I then
applied a blown sand shader.
The sandcastle itself came next. All components of the sandcastle were made
with a freeform modeller, combined as a group, and shaded with a sand texture I
made using the shader editor that is part of the Raydream program. I made a
flag and flagpole with the freeform modeller and place it on the central tower.
The flag was given a fabric texture.
The water is an infinte plane set at the origin of the picture, shaded with a
water texture, and raised slightly to cover some of the beach.
The sunset background was generated using Rayflect Inc. Four Elements
atmospheric generator. This is set up in the scene settings then applied as a
background. I really like this plugin as it really cuts down the time it would
take to develop a sky model. Ambient light was also set up in the scene
settings as a white light set at 60%. There is one light that is set up as
sunlight, this is a function of the atmoshere generator and is applied directly
to the light itself.
The lighthouse, boat, pail, and spoon were already made objects that came with
my Raydream program. The pail was originally silver in color but I changed it
to a red color.
