IMAGE DESCRIPTION:
"Rapunzel, Rapunzel let down your long hair." A lonely tower
stands in a small clearing surrounded by tangled vines. The tower is made of
polished marble on top of which is a small room with a roof of blue slate. The
standard of the tower's owner unfurls in the wind on the flagpole. Who's
really in the room at the top? Is it Rapunzel, or the witch? And where is the
prince? His horse is nearby but, there is no sight of him. And is the sun
setting or rising? I'll leave that up to your imagination.

DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED:
To begin this rendering I started
with the terrain as this would dictate where all of the other objects would be
placed. The terrain was given a grass texture. Next came the base of the
tower. This is a truncated cone with a hole through the center. It was given
a white marble texture. The body of the tower is an elongated cylinder. This
was given a dark marble texture. The room at the top was made using a freeform
modeller. It is a hollow polygonal block with an opening in one side. This
was given the same texture as the tower cylinder. The doorway to the room was
made the same way as the room itself and given the same texture as the base.
The flagpole is a basic cylinder with a sphere set atop. Both were given a
metallic texture. The flag is a freeform plane with a geometric texture. The
hair braid was made with the freeform modeller this took some time as I had to
figure out the correct sequence for the weave. The texure for the hair is a
shader I made myself using the shader editor. The plants were also freeform
objects. They were given a texture that simulated climbing vines. The horse
is the last object. The model of the horse is one I had in stock. I haven't
had much luck making either human or animal models. This image has taken me
several weeks to design with the numerous revisions I made.
