IMAGE DESCRIPTION:

The Magician (I) is a member of the major arcana (22) in Tarot. As an individual
-an archetype-, symbolizes an universal aspect of human experience. This is one
more version of this major card. The Magician is seated, as he is in few
decks(Visconti-Sforza and Paladini decks) and behind a table. He is in the
midst of water, though, instead of fire.

DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED:

1. Scene: Inside a textured sphere, a height field and a plane.
2. Objects : Wall, windows and floor were made in CSG. Plants were made with
PlantStudio.
All other objects were modeled with hamapatch, almost all textures are
completely procedural, except the wall and the height_field using image_maps.
Finally, 15 lights whether point or spotlight were used.
The border is a symbol from Corel clipart, broken apart and combined with the
letters; then extruded in AC3D and exported to POV.
3. mg_mag04.inc is not included in the source file.

The Magician (Magus/ The Magus-) represents conscious awareness, and balances
with the next card -number II the mysterious unconscious- like light and
shadows, meaning the creative forces in a ground of potential, where one cannot
exist without the other. With no accurate date of origin, tarot has been around
at least since the XV century. Along the way, it has acquired many symbols from
secret and hermetic groups. This is related to Mercury of alchemy. Although the
content varies from deck to deck, basic symbols remain unchanged. A sword, a
disc, a wand, and a cup are also present in every deck. However, the tree of
life (Kabbalah's Sephiroth)is shown less frequently. I found two different
positions for the same card in regards to the tree of life, depending on the
number 10 or 11 - Kether or Chomak)
