IMAGE DESCRIPTION:

CORONA MUNDI (Top(crown) of the World)
The Himalaya.

DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED:

Well, since I had absolute no ideas for this topic, I thought about, what
(simple) image could represent Asia best. Since Asia is the lagest land-mass
with the highest spots on this planet I decided the Himalaya as the Top of the
World would fit best.

The Image Itself is very simple (I found out, that from images I made, the ones
wich are made with very simple objects and effects score better) It is made
with four objects from wich only three are actually visible (plus one
lightsource and camera).

The first object is a sphere to define my world. I'm used to place my scenes
(when they are outside) on a planet (wich is very often too small) to create
more realistic atmospherical effects (like clouds, wich are, in this image not
present) or the atmosphere itself.

The second an thirs objects are spheres a little larger than the first. These
objects contain the atmospheres. One for the blue sky and one for the fog in
the mountains. It would have been simpler to create a simple blue sphere for
the sky and leave out the fog, since it almost does not affect the scene, but I
simple love long render times ;-). By the way the almost invisible effects are
the best.

The third object is a isosurface I actually found. Since it already created a
very realistic mountain landscape I decided not to invent everything new (There
goes my score again) and just modified the parameters and texture. The texture
is a slope texture using a dark grey for the rocky parts and my snow texture
from my "The Fortress" entry earlier this year.

All in all the image is not very original or anything but it at least kept my
computer working.
