IMAGE DESCRIPTION:

A morning practice session of the lion dance...
I have chosen the idea of Lion Dance for this round because it is a major part
of the
celebration of New Year's Day. And why during the morning when everything is so
dark
and gloomy?... well, the spirit doesn't come with the dance, it comes with the
dancers - the
dancers who try to put on a great show (don't forget to practice). Happy New
Year!

DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED:

The "Structure":
Just a bunch of CSG objects (hmm... in Povray terms...). The actual model is
very big
because my original plan was to have a close up view of the structure, but I
guess all
those details have gone into waste...

The "Lion dance"
Except for the two pairs of legs (Poser), 70% of the lion is composed of torus.
The
deformation function in TS is used to model the head. A ClothMotion plugin is
used
for the cloth at the back. The fur is created using massive polygons (bad).

The "Drummer"
Poser and cylinder, quick and simple

All the rest...
The lights were not easy to control, they can never achieve what I really
want... but
close enough. The sky background is cool, courtesy of 3D Cafe texture library
;)

REMARKS: I would love to release the TS scene file, but it is over 6Mb (2Mb
zipped),
and not including the textures used... really sorry, I am still using 56K. But
if you
really want it, i can probably break up the objects models to smaller pieces,
just
send me an email ;) Happy New Year!
