IMAGE DESCRIPTION:

I have always wanted to try to recreate some
nice looking mountains, so I though that this
would be the perfect opportunity. The scene looked
pretty bland at first, but then I got the idea to
add the Northern Lights. I am very pleased with the
way it turned out.

DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED:

Well, where to start.... The mountain is just a simple
landscape object, the main magic came with the texture!
The texture was based on tutorial I found on the
web (I can't remember the URL right now,
but thank you to whoever you are!). It is a Fusion of
two seperate textures, the rock and snow, using Bhodinut
SLA. The rock uses a Stupl fractal as a bump map with a
very high bump value. The snow uses a Wavey Turbulence,
with a softer bump value. I then played around with the
settings until I got the shader to my liking.
The nothern lights are just point lights that I streched
out. I then gave the visible light with turbulence and
made sure that they did not eimit any light.
I the puposefully placed the camera at the bottom
of the mountain looking up to make it look really
imposing!
