IMAGE DESCRIPTION:

A farewell to the Atari 2600. Twilight colors represent an end. A
desert was
used due to the story of cartridges being dumped in the desert. IT is basically
a dreary
scene of death and decay.

Basically I started out making the Atari 2600 for the last topic, but
didn't
get it finished on time. So, to reuse my objects I used some house parts and
furniture
from another project and turned the joystick into a house. Though, some
planning, luck,
accidents it turned into a twilight desert scene.

Just a thought, Atari's trademarks I think now belong to Infogrames, but I'm not
sure.
Please don't sue me, you don't want my computer, trust me...

DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED:

The major objects were created and lighted using Moray. Their textures
where made with
Moray's material editor.

The rear mountains(rocks) are made from a height map generated in the
GIMP using the selection tool
a spherical gradient fill and LOTS of Guassian blurring. I got the different
peak heights by reselecting certain
"peaks" and then adjusting brighness and contrast. The sidewalk was made
similarly. The ridges in the 2600 top,
Atari Logo are black/white bmps and height maps.

The joystick, is just a bunch of basic parts and Moray rounded cubes and
cylinders. The Atari Console is mainly
transitional sweeps, height maps, and an image map for the console front.

The grass is four prairies made using makegrass
(http://www.mediaport.net/Artichaud/Tran/gtran.en.html).
Two are from the same mesh for some thickness, one of shorter dead colored
grass, and one of longer, more spare,
and more alive looking grass.

The front bushes were made using maketree
(http://www.oyonale.com/ressources/downloads/maketree.zip).
It is very similar to extree4.pov with some additional gnarling and a few other
tweaks.

The scene is lit with two spotlights and one point source. The main light is
high above the scene and tinted blue
to simulate nighttime, a less blue tinted spotlight points at the house front to
show a little more detail.
the point source in inside the house to light the internal parts and case a
light onto the grass and bushes.
