IMAGE DESCRIPTION:

A technologically advanced city of the future lies abandoned and in disrepair as
a huge chasm has opened up through it's center. On the other side of the chasm
the city has been completely swallowed by a forest of trees.

DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED:

This is my second ever complete ray-traced scene, and the first I'm submitting
to IRTC. Sorry that the source code is so messy

The picture is entirely based on a work by my younger brother, Marcus, which he
drew for his final year art exam. (I hope this is allowed.) I have included a
photo of the almost completed work in the zip file. The image is used with his
permission.

The buildings are done with CSG

The markings on the buildings are all done with meshes and boxes. No image
mapping has been used, and also no software other than POV-Ray. I made a macro
to help place all the tracks on the ground, but still the coordinates of every
bend in every track was put in by hand. It was quite tedious.

The chasm is isosurfaces and slows down the rendering very significantly

The trees are all the same tree. It is based on my very first non-trivial
object, a blob tree. I used partially transparent textures, which I saw
demonstrated in a file that came with POV, to make the leafy effect.
