IMAGE DESCRIPTION:

Well hopefully it is surreal. It is composed of everyday things, and some crazy
things, all mixed together. I like windows, they separate, divide, but allow
one to see on the other side.

DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED:

Wow, well I could have done this much easier if I could use photoshop to
composit it all. Since I could not, I had to render, and then build a new scene
with some planes to hold the previous render, then render again, then setup a
new scene, then render again, etc, etc, etc. Actually this led me to some
ideas that I could not have done by laying in photoshop. The rip is one of
these (see below). It is difficult to say how many renders I had to do. It
was a very straight ahead proces, after every render I thought of new elements
I could add/combine and set about re-rendering. A few times I had to take a
few steps back as I saw something in the previous renders I wanted to fix, then
render all the way up the chain again.

Some techincal bits:

Anywhere that looks like GI (The 'blocks', the window render, the scrabble
board), is fake GI. A bunch of light arranged in a dome with low res shadow
maps all blended together. Great effect, low render time.

The rip effect in the lower right corner was fun. I ripped black paper, scanned
it in, and then used that as an opacity map. The fun bit is that my scanner
actually bled light through some of the riped portion, so the edges turned out
fuzzy and semi-transparent. Worked great, and I like the effect.

Any other questions, of if you want any of the sources (the dresser and window
are pretty nice detailed models). Just lemme know!
