IMAGE DESCRIPTION:
I just tried to represent some objects very important in the
history, coming from the recent past, but some are still used at this time. For
the Astrolab, I found a picture of one example on the net and
tried to reproduce it

DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED:
All the objects use primitives and
revolution splines/hypernurbs. They are simple to create (for the astrolab a
rotation was applied to the central part at the end of the creation). Textures
were created in The Gimp (for the figures and the ticks/marks which were
applied as a
layer with alpha transparency). The other materials are classical, but I applied
also a kind of dust on all the objects (with alpha transparency)
