IMAGE DESCRIPTION:

The natural reaction to the topic of 'Speed' is to think of something going
fast. I decided to illustrate the opposite. All the elements in the scene move
or change slowly, including the sailboat, the birds, the moon, the landscape
and finally the stars.

DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED:

This is my first submission to the IRTC.

The moon is based on an image map from 'The Celestia Motherlode'
(http://www.celestiamotherlode.net/catalog/moon.php) which provides fantastic
maps which are freely distributable for NON-commercial use.

The all other textures are coded directly, which I think is my current weakness
with POV-Ray. I avoided having to do any detailed textures by designing a dark
scene more reliant on shadows to create realism.

The island heightfield was created using L3DT 2.3a.

The definitions for the sailboat and the ducks were exported from Moray 3.5.
The sailboat was created by hand and is very basic, given that it was intended
to be seen from a distance.
The ducks are modified from the rubber duck available on the Moray website
(http://www.stmuc.com/moray/metoys.html)
