IMAGE DESCRIPTION:

What can I say.. Two Eskimos standing outside a melted igloo.

DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED:

Obviously inspired by Gary Larson, this idea came into my head one afternoon. I
had thought about more "artistic" images but I settled for this.

Not much to tell about the creation really. What took time was the igloo that is
a "destroyed" sphere with a mesh-smooth modiefier on it. This was not how I
wanted it to be initially, but I just couldn't get it right. In the end I had
to go for this one. The two Eskimos are low-poly modelled and are basicly made
up of cylinders that is manipulated on polygon and vertex level. Yes, I know,
the feet are a bit to big.. ;) But, I'm still in a learning process when it
comes to modelling "people".. and.. ehr.. I suck at it.

I had a more complex scene but I abandoned it because I felt that a more simple
setup was more "in theme". I also tried on some different materials before I
decided to go with the ones that you see in the picture.

The render time suffers from the fact that the water is a procedural (as the
rest of them..) material and I guess the transperacy and fade was a bit
overkill for this scene. However, once it was done I didn't feel like changing
it again. The smoke, which is a native 3ds MAX particle solution, didn't make
it faster..

All textures are procedural, either with a mix of Simbiont MAX or just the
native components. Photoshop just used for the text and the framing.

Well, I hope you enjoy it. :)

Stefan
